Pencil Shavings

I wanted to move my project on to a completely different direction when I started doing my workshop in 3D construction. So I started to look at other forms of crowding and uncrowding which could be developed into a structured form.



My idea was completely by accident, I had left some pencil shaving on one of my pieces of paper and though it would be an interesting area to develop. There where elements of the pencil shavings which reminded me of the Batik design so I was still linking it back to my last project. Also I was focusing on a different element of Crowding:Uncrowding. I was looking at space and objects and determining the differencs between them. Which i had set as part of my new brief.

I discovered an artist who used shaving to re-create portraits of people and found it fascinating called Kyle Bean.





I tried to form my own Batik designs from these shavings and felt they were very successful and used elements fo my old colour palette.
