Butterfly wings- veins?

One element that stood out to me when I was sketch butterflies earlier in my sketch book was these intriguing veins they have on their wings. In my previous post you can see the veins like quality on the suit jacket which I think works really well. It reminded me of human veins which would be something interesting to look at, It is a feature of the body which slowly develops throughout your life and as you age they become more visible. They are also tree like in the way they look so, have an elegant feel to them.

Damien Hurst uses real butterflies to mimicking a stain glass window. It has very interesting qualities to is and is very hypnotic because it is a mirror image down the middle both sides are identical. However there is too much going on and I think the beauty of the butterflies is lost because they seem not as special among on another. You loss there detailed wings, slightly hairy torso, patterns and colour.  I would not say I completely agree with Hurst using real butterfly wings in this way.
